SUS Celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March 2020

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

 

The theme for this year's International Women's Day 2020 is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”. The theme will focus on innovative ways in which we can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure.

 

The chief guest of the programme was Sahar Gharachorlou, a life and holistic coach trained in more that 62 metaphysical and energy work therapies. She worked for 12 years with MNC's at senior management level.

 

The organizer of the function was the principal of SUSCRT, Dr. Manavjot Kaur in her speech she said, we are living in the era of women empowerment. Women all over the world today are walking with men on their shoulders. They are now empowered to take decisions related to their life and business in all respects. She said ‘Think Equal, Build smart and innovate for change.

 

The primary objective of celebrating ‘International Women Day’ was highlighting key events, achievements, and aims to further promote and raise awareness of women’s rights and to achieve equal opportunity status in all walks of life. Presiding over the ‘International Women’s Day-2020 function that was packed with diverse student activities like poster making, skit etc.
